1st Semester (40%)
The first semester is about developing a variety of different techniques and strategies for creating art. These have been divided into two (2) different types of modules:

- Technical, such as drawing, taping, painting, shading,
- Preparation, such as colour studies, researching, reflecting, etc....
Midterm (10%)
The midterm will be an observational drawing of a still life that takes place during the 1-hour examination time.

2nd Semester (40%)
The second semester is about creating one final piece of artwork that is substantiated by the preparation work. Both your preparation and your final piece will be assessed as one grade. You will be required to submit:

- 4 A2 size pieces of paper (8 sides) that show your preparation in the following categories: - Gathering, recording, researching, and investigating
- 1 final piece of art that is at least A2 size
- Exploring and developing your idea
- Designing and laying out your ideas (composition)
- Selecting and controlling the materials (craftsmanship)
- Personalising your artwork (concept)
Final Exam (10%)
Preparation for your final exam will begin 4 weeks before the exam time. Similar to your 2nd semester art piece, your final exam will consist of preparation work and one formal piece of art.
